Location

The larp village Berghem, about a 20-minute drive outside of Skillingaryd, southern Sweden.

We recommend driving to Berghem, if possible, since the location is remote, and while there is a train station in Skillingaryd, it only runs local trains from Jönköping or Värnamo. The drive from Gothenburg is just over 2 hours, from Stockholm about 4,5 hours, from Malmö about 3 hours. The main train route between Malmö and Stockholm stops in Alvesta, which is about 1 h and 20-minute drive from the larp village.

Pick-ups can, if needed, be arranged from Skillingaryd train station.

Dates

3-6 September 2026.

All participants must be on site by 9.30 on Thursday September 3rd for the mandatory pre-larp workshops. If you are travelling far, we recommend arriving on Wednesday September 2nd (make sure to bring your own dinner, or to have eaten before arrival!). Organisers will be onsite from 18.00 at the latest during the Wednesday.

The larp runs from Thursday evening to Saturday evening, with some calibration breaks between the acts (see Larp Structure for more information). On Saturday evening, there will be time for structured debriefs, but also for hanging out and socialising. Everyone should have left the village by 11.00 on Sunday morning.

Signup

Signup will open at January 15th and close at February 15th, 2026.

Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to sign up for a character of their own. It might be possible to bring a small child, maximum 2 years of age – if you are considering this, please get in touch with us before or during the signup period!

The assignment of a spot at the larp will be lottery-based for the vast majority of spots. If needed for balance in the player group, we might select players who hadn’t been lucky in the lottery for specific characters. Before the lottery, a list of everyone who has signed up will be sent out, to enable you to reach out to us if there is anyone on the list who will be a danger to you or the larp. We reserve the right to deny potential players a spot at the larp if we deem it necessary.

Payment

The participation fee for The One Without Sin is 1500 SEK (standard fee, approximately 138 EUR) or 800 SEK (reduced fee, approximately 72 EUR). The reduced price is for those who, for various reasons, have difficulties paying the full price. This may be because you are unemployed, a single parent, traveling from a country with lower income levels, etc. We will not ask any questions about this.

Payment is done via international bank transfer once you have received a spot and a character for the larp.

Accommodation and accessibility

Accommodation is provided in small wooden houses built specifically for larp. Berghem is an amazing place with a very authentic feeling, which truly helps build the illusion of a 17th-century village! The water is drawn from a well, and there is a small stream to wash or bathe in when the weather is fine.

The houses in Berghem are, however, mostly uninsulated and unheated, and as far as temperature and modern comfort go, staying in them is more like going camping in a tent than staying in a modern house. There are mattresses in all houses, but no other bedding, and participants will need to provide this themselves, in a way that looks (or can be covered to look) like 17th-century bedding. See the Packing list for more information!

Berghem is like going camping in other ways as well. There is no heating, no running water, and no electricity on site, and the toilets are outhouses.

The ground in the village can be uneven, and there are stairs or ladders in some of the houses to reach the sleeping areas. If you are unsure whether this would prevent you from participating, we welcome you to get in touch with us to discuss your specific circumstances!

Food

All food will be provided from Thursday breakfast to Sunday breakfast. The food will be primarily vegetarian and inspired by what people ate in the 17th century. If you have allergies or other dietary needs, it will be possible to say so in the signup!

You’re welcome to bring your own additional snacks to keep in your bags, but note that since there is no electricity on site, any private snacks will need to be able to be stored at room temperature (or most likely, somewhat below).

Language

The One Without Sin will be played in English, and all information regarding the larp will be in English. We ask that people who share a common language other than English still try to speak English to each other, also during the workshops and socialising, for inclusivity!

Gender

The characters at The One Without Sin are divided into male or female characters, since the social structure of the 17th century allowed for nothing else; however, individual characters might fit more or less into the mold of their gender. We welcome players of any off-game gender to play either male or female characters, and will use the costumes to signal the gender of the character (see Costume).
